1. The challenge
Knowledge of business or organisational processes is a key success factor to successfully grow and improve the performance of a company or organisation.
2. The Oppertunity
Many companies and organisations are involved in projects such as:

  • re-engineering ways of working and designing new organisational models
  • developing new business and identifying new customers
  • introducing new products or services
  • starting lean programmes or continuous improvement initiatives
  • defining new customer requirements to determine unique selling propositions
  • implementing new ERP system to standardise operational platforms
  • reducing and optimising costs to increase profitability
3. The Solution
ESSENCE consult follows a process- and results-driven approach, i.e. Analyse As-Is, Define To-Be, Implement & Review. Depending on the size of the business or organisation, the focus and scope are different.
3.1 Analyse As-Is
Process modelling is always the starting point of ESSENCE consult and is about mapping (macro)processes, and strengths and weaknesses: who is doing what, what parameters are monitored, who are the different stakeholders, what are opportunities and threats? Deliverable of this step is an ANALYSIS REPORT.
ESSENCE consult has developed a unique approach for this analysis step which is based on the concept of X-rays. X-rays are widely used to examine the physico-chemical structure of unknown solids. But now it is applied in a totally different area. In Business Process Modelling, X-raying the business or organisation is the starting point:

  • how does the present business, organisation looks like (= crystal structure),
  • what are the components of the business, organisation (= molecules & atoms),
  • what are the interactions that ensure the different processes keep running (= chemical bonds)?
3.2 Define To-Be
Once this is done, the different pieces of the puzzle are put together and a summary is made what can be improved: are the different processes efficient, are people conscious of their responsibilities, how can ways of working be simplified? Important at this stage is that the three components, i.e. people, processes and systems are well integrated. The scope of the to-be situation is consolidated in a BLUEPRINT DOCUMENT detailing how the envisaged targets can be implemented, how a task-driven organisation can change to a process-driven organisation, how the business / organisation has to operate in the future.
3.3 Implement
The next step is implementation and is supported by an IMPLEMENTATION GUIDE: what needs to be done, by whom, when and how? It also gives guidance what needs to be measured and monitored to properly assess performance. Important in this step is that ESSENCE consult provides advice and support, acts as a facilitator. But to guarantee that changes are properly embedded, it is key that people from the business / organisation "mobilises resources".
3.4 Review
After an initial period of stabilisation and consolidation, a first review is carried out: are expectations met, is the 'process concept' working, are improvements already visible and sustainable, are people properly functioning in the new set-up, are changes anchored into the organisation? In other words, are the '3E's' in balance: economy, efficiency and effectiveness? A REVIEW REPORT summarises findings and gives direction for the future.
